Simply Sensational – Make Your Own Organic Vanilla Body Butter
This recipe is good enough to eat. Four simple ingredients blended together to create a luxurious and fragrant body butter. It will nourish and moisturise your skin throughout winter, scent your body with a subtle perfume and save you a significant sum of money. Thank you Sophie Uliano from gorgeouslygreen.com!
All the ingredients can be purchased from a decent organic health food store, or ordered online. The only other things you need are a small food blender and an opaque (dark) glass jar with a lid to store your body butter.
- 2 tbs. shea butter
- 2 tbs virgin coconut oil
- 4 tbs sweet almond oil
- 0.5 tsp vanilla absolute oil
Note that the vanilla absolute is not the same as the vanilla essence you buy from the supermarket or grocery store. This has a very rich aroma and a thick consistency.
Add all the ingredients in the above order, and blend in processor. You may need to use a spatula to scrape down the mixture in the blender a couple of times.
Once you have reached a butter-like consistency, decant into a small opaque jar. All the ingredients are light sensitive, so to keep the butter fresh use a dark jar rather than a clear transparent glass jar.
The body butter will be slightly more liquid if stored at room temperature. If you like your body moisturiser a little thicker, store it in the fridge.
The scent is quite heavenly. It is 100% naturally derived from plants and nuts. It would make the perfect gift for Christmas. This really is organic beauty at its best.
