Watch Sophie Uliano from Gorgeouslygreen.com make organic baby moisturiser. The ingredients are simple, the method is easy and the result is great. You can relax knowing exactly what you’re moisturising your baby with – and know that it is entirely natural and synthetic free. This would make a wonderful present for anyone with a baby or toddler.

Ingredients:

  • 5 tbs organic sweet almond Oil
  • 2 tbs natural beeswax (can appear as granules, flakes or pellets)
  • 1 tbs cocoa butter (can appear as ‘butter’ or hard discs as in video)
  • 10 drops of Roman Chamomile essential oil
  • 5 drops of Lavender essential oil ONLY FOR BABIES OVER 12 MONTHS

Method

Add wax and oils to bowl and heat over saucepan of simmering water. Once oils have melted remove from bowl from heat. Use oven gloves or tongs as the bowl will be hot.

Add the required drops of essential oil. Note that lavender should not be used for babies under one year old. Stir again.

Because the ingredients are light senstive, you need a dark or opaque glass jar to store your balm in. I wouldn’t use plastic jars because they can leach into the balm. Sophie suggests sterilising the jar, either in the dishwasher or the oven at 50 degrees centigrade for around ten minutes.

Pour the mixture into the jar. The balm will harden as it cools.

That’s it! You have a wonderfully nourishing emollient cream for your little one. It’s completely natural and non-toxic. It’s relatively cheap, and smells absolutely gorgeous. Organic skin care at its best.
