The global hair care market was worth an estimated Euro 45 billion in 2009, and is still growing. From shampoos to curl revivers, hair sprays to frizz aways, everybody uses hair products. The majority of hair products are stuffed with synthetic chemicals that ultimately do little to improve the long term health of the hair. In fact some of the ingredients are potentially harmful to the body. Think SLS, parabens etc. There are alternatives.

Cider vinegar and water is a highly effective remedy to rid your hair of the build-up from chemical esidues. Simply add a half cup of apple cider vinegar (shake before use) to one and a half cups of cold water. Shampoo your hair first with your usual shampoo, rinse with water and then rinse again using your diluted vinegar. Be aware that your vinegar rinse will have a fairly pungent smell at first which fades away rapidly. Leave in for as long as possible, and note how your hair feels afterwards.

Coconut milk and mashed avocado are the two ingredients to make your natural deep conditioning treatment. Simply blend one cup coconut milk with the flesh of an avocado in a food processor. (If you don’t have a processor you can mix the two ingredients in a bowl.) Mix or blend the ingredients until you have the consistency of conventional conditioner. Then add the mixture to your dry hair, working from the roots to the ends. Leave in for 15 minutes and then rinse (you can also shampoo it out). How does your hair feel now? It should feel silkier, softer and ultimately deeply nourished. Use this treatment once or twice a week to pamper your locks with one of the best truly organic deep conditioning treatments around.
